Well, I’m sure everyone is sick and tired of living life all locked down and such. In an effort to be productive, since dieting and exercising hasn’t been very successful for me – I started cleaning up (and out) all the old papers, etc. from the boxes they landed in after my sister and I cleaned out our parents’ home of 40 years after they passed.
This week’s treasure is none other than the owner’s manual to the station wagon my parents bought new in 1958 – before my sister and I were even born!
They had the car for 4 years, then traded it in for a 1962 Ford Galaxie convertible. Both our 1958 and 1962 (and our 1967 & 1970 Chryslers) were bought from the best car guy ever – Mr. Ward Beaver. Mr. Beaver worked for Sunset Ford in St. Louis in the 1950’s and early 60’s, then went on to buy and own Glendale Chrysler Plymouth in St. Louis. Mrs. Beaver was a friend of my mother and I remember getting to ride around in the back of the big 1960’s/70’s Imperials they had – it felt like we were riding around with royalty. It’s been 50 years, but I remember them like yesterday.
